Happy Friday to you all.
having posted recently on the Garden and self sufficiency i thought it about time i gave an update.
the veggie patch is dug (took hours) and planted with a miriad of different veg and we are hoping to be able to seed twice this year so shall see how that goes.
have planted the following:
carrots, cabbage, onions, spring onions, loads of peas, beetroot, raddish, spinich, brocoli, leek and some more that escape memory currently
in addition to this we have planted tayberry, blueberry, gooseberry, red and black current and rhubarb in the boarder.
we have also seeded our herbs in plugs for our new herb garden which will include 10 different herbs.
in hanging baskets we have planted strawberries and also planted wild strawberry seeds in plugs for the front garden boarder.
we have now recieved, in addition to the cherry and victoria plumb tree, 5 blackthorn bushes and 2 crab apple trees which i will be planting later today.
all in all busy bees in the garden, literally!
Having been under a fair amount of stress with the court, work and other things i have completely ignored my wellbeing, health and weight.
after weighing myself this morning and struggling to get a shirt to fit, this is now going to charge. it is also apparent i am not helping my darling wife in her fitness and weightloss by eating and cooking the wrong meals for us!
after speaking with a miriad of different people the most commonly used diet in our company is diet chef.
i however have a brain and do not have an unlimited bank balance and £56 per week per person for pre made meals is rediculous!
so i have pinched the basis of the diet and will produce the meals myself.
the basic idea is to drastically reduce intake of calories by pre cooking small (really small) meals.
so here’s the plan in detail
| meal | weight (g) |
| lasagne | 270 |
| sausage in onion gravy | 300 |
| chilli and rice | 300 |
| beef and ale | 300 |
| pas bol | 300 |
| chicken curry | 300 |
| pork curry | 300 |
| chicken in red wine | 300 |
| cottage pie | 270 |
| fish pie | 300 |
| sausage casserole | 300 |
| soups | |
| tom and bacon | 300 |
| tom and beef spicy | 300 |
| tom soup | 300 |
| minestroni | 300 |
| sweet potatoe and brocoli | 300 |
| mulligatawney | 300 |
cook these meals and store in freezer. have soup for lunch and single porridge sachet for brekkie. max 2 pieces of fruit at work, small veg portion with meals.
need to loose at least 2 stone so will keep you updated.
FAT GIT OUT!!!
Coupled with our brewing – with which we hope to supply all our alcoholic needs, we are trying to be a bit more self sufficient in other areas.
one of these areas is the Garden.
have started digging our massive veggie patch.
we will be growing cabbage, carrots, leeks, onions, beetroot, raddish, broccoli, peas, and much more.
in addition to this we have planted the flowerbed/boarder in the back garden with tayberries, black and red currents, blueberry bushes, rhubarb, gooseberry bushes oh and roses for wifey.
additionally a section of this will be sown shortly as a perannial herb garden, to go with the masses of chives that grow in our lawn. around 8 different herbs will be sown.
we have also purchased a large amount of Apline strawberry (wild strawberry) seeds to sow in the front boarder (around 500).
we have also purchased a victoria plum tree and a cherry tree.
all of these items will be used to help us be more self sufficient and also help with the brewing!!!!
we have also scouted the local area and found yellow plums on a tree next to the house, crab apples, and elderflower all within walking distance.
nettles and brambles are everywhere in our back garden.
any suggestions are welcome for others.

elderflower cider batch 1 was so good we purchased another kit. liquers were amazing if not a bit sweet.
vimto wine is currently settling and awaiting bottling.
I requested, mainly due to being told i wasn’t allowed to visit my brother with my steel toecap boots, a large amount of info which i will be analysing shortly.
here it is in raw form.
of particular interest are the canteen list to show how much prisoners pay for certain items, dress code for visitors and facilities list.
back soon to compare prices with a leading supermarket.
Good morning all brew update Time.
